What we heard: The VG247 article cites "a highly placed source" with the tidbit that Sony will unveil a PlayStation Network subscription plan at next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. According to the article, the service will carry an annual cost less than £50 ($72). For that money, subscribers will get a premium package apparently centered around one free PSN game per month (from a choice of up to four different titles) and access to a streaming music application that will also be unveiled at E3.
A subscription-based premium service could significantly change the PSN landscape.
Speculation in the article suggests that the streaming audio service would be able to run in the background while users played games. One feature that will apparently not be exclusive to subscribers is cross-game voice chat. The VG247 source emphasized that Sony won't "gimp" its free PSN service in order to attract subscribers to the premium offering.
Sony first revealed its plans for a subscription-based PSN service last November. At the time, Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai released a statement confirming that the current level of PSN service (including online multiplayer and connection to services like Netflix and Facebook) would remain free.
So if Sony isn't charging for online play, what can they expect gamers to shell out for, especially with an annual £50 fee? At a price like that, something amounting to a Game-of-the-Month club might be the only real option Sony has. Even then, without must-have features and assurances that gamers will get their money's worth, a premium PSN subscription sounds like the sort of option that's easily ignored. And if Sony actually comes through with those kiler features, won't standard PSN users feel like their service has been gimped regardless?

The competing messages of experience and trust were the calling cards of the state's two Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate on the last day of campaigning before Tuesday's primary election in the too-close-to-call race.
Sen. Arlen Specter, who has served in the Senate since 1981, and his challenger, U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, also dueled Monday over who is more dedicated to Democratic Party values while many Democrats wonder who can beat the Republicans in the fall.
Barry Alfonso, a regular at the Tazza D'Oro Cafe & Espresso Bar in Pittsburgh, where Sestak met with voters Monday morning, said: "It's not the only issue, but it's the most important."
The election is Specter's first running as a Democrat after he switched parties last year. He nonetheless is endorsed by President Barack Obama, the Democratic Party and the AFL-CIO.
Known as a political survivorand a centrist, Specter, 80, has used his willingness to cross party lines to bolster his clout in Congress and has won numerous narrow victories over the years by appealing to moderate voters.
However, many Democrats remain undecided in the race and suspicious of a man they have voted against before.
At his six stops around the state Monday, Specter reminded voters of the battles he has fought and won for Pennsylvania, from a Delaware River dredging project expected to bring tens of thousands of jobs to Philadelphia's port to directing federal spending to Penn State University research.
"With Jack Murtha gone, I'm the only guy left standing with seniority and experience," Specter told a small group of supporters and reporters inside an airplane hangar building in suburban Harrisburg.
U.S. Rep. John Murtha died in February.
Sestak, a former Navy admiral and second-term congressman from suburban Philadelphia, dismissed Specter's accomplishments simply as the kind of "hard work" that any senator should undertake and turned the discussion to whether Democrats can trust Specter.
He repeated his accusation that Specter's switch to the Democratic Party was a cold, political calculation intended to ensure re-election, not advance the Democratic Party values he said Specter has worked against for decades.
Voters "really do want someone that they're willing to lose their job over doing what's right," Sestak told reporters outside the New Hope Baptist Church in south Philadelphia, where he was endorsed by about a dozen members of the city's black clergy. "Someone of conviction and core beliefs of why they're a Democrat."
He also contrasted Specter's decision to switch parties with his own to run for Senate as an example of a principled decision. If Sestak loses the primary, he will be out of Congress at the end of the year because he is not running for re-election.
Specter called Sestak's criticism of his party switch "below the belt."
In a Monday evening campaign stop amid Philadelphia Phillies fans streaming into Citizens Bank Park, Specter insisted he had doomed his re-election prospects in the GOP by crossing party lines to support Obama's economic stimulus bill.
"I decided to put the country's welfare ahead of mine when I voted for the recovery act," Specter said.
Sestak also supported the bill, but he said Specter's endorsements from Obama and his vote for the bill shouldn't get him re-elected because he supported Republican policies that ran up the nation's debt and sparked the recession.I wanna be the place you call home

One of the more pervasive and destructive mental tendencies I've seen is that of focusing on what we want instead of what we have. Happiness can't be found when we are yearning for new desires.

Luckily, there is a way to be happy. It involves changing the emphasis of our thinking from what we want to what we have. Rather than wishing you were able to take a vacation to Hawaii, think of how much fun you have had close to home. The list of possibilities is endless! Each time you notice yourself falling into the "I wish life were different" trap, back off and start over. Take a breath and remember all that you have to be grateful. When you focus not on what you want, but on what you have, you end up getting more of what you want anyway. If you focus on the good qualities of your spouse, she'll be more loving. If you are grateful for your job rather than complaining about it, you'll do a better job, be more productive, and probably end up getting a raise any-way. If you focus on ways to enjoy yourself around home rather than waiting to enjoy yourself in Hawaii, you'll end up having more fun. No wonder that a professor would throw himself down the tall building a few days ago, with no more attachment to the world he was living in. Some people can find excitement and satisfaction in the world, though maybe with nearly unbearable pressure and unbelievable effort; while some cannot find a clue that can encourage them to go on, so they give up and choose to leave the world behind. People hurry to and fro to fight for their bright future, losing gradually their feelings and their gratitude for others. I would be very sad when I become suspicious of my friendship with one who, I once believe, could be my good friend. So here, in this article, I would like to ask people to cherish friendship.

I often hear people say that friends can be very important and even just a bit less important than parents. It seems that I agree with this saying. But I don’t know whether it is because I am too vulnerable or what else, I sometimes would doubt its reasonableness. I myself regard friendship as nourishment that cannot be eliminated from life, so I like to make friends with persons who, I think, can be loyal and faithful to me. I would be always ready to help my friends and without sparing any effort I would help them accomplish something. Although there was some time when I could not be able to help, I would not regret because I had tried with all my strength, even though I would feel very sorry for that. Sometimes I really have the sympathy that human beings are indeed creatures full of contradictions. Maybe that is the right answer to the disease that haunts human beings----Schizophrenia. I love my friends and learn to respect them. However, I found now and then I would be jealous. Whenever this happened, I would scold myself and could not help pondering whether I was a worthy and loyal friend to my friends. When I feel lonely, I turn to my friends, and they are my loyal listeners. Sometimes I can receive a letter or a call from my friends, they complain to me about their sorrows and troubles. At that time, I would be sincerely listening and sympathize with them from my deep heart. And for sure, we always share happiness with each other. Maybe I can find an excuse for my jealousy. That is everyone wants to make a progress, so do I. I want to keep pace with my friends. Jealous as I am sometimes, I am honest and would not hurt my friends on any occasion. I have already entered into the society for one and a half year. For the first year, one of my workmates and I were quite close to each other. And gradually we became good friends. Now we are in different cities, but I miss her very much. I think I am loyal to her all the same. But she once cheated me. For a long time after that I was pondering whether she treated me as a good friend. Finally I successfully persuaded myself into believing that it was just a white lie. We can be friends just like before even though now we are separated in two different cities. I would always think back over our conversations, our united effort of solving problems and the heartfelt suggestions we gave to each other. Both of us have left the place where we once worked together. Now the surrounding and the people around me are totally new. I do not know clearly whether I can find a friend like her, and whether we can cherish our friendship while the time flying away. I hope our friendship can survive everything. As a girl, I cannot deny my being sentimental sometimes. I think a lot when I am alone. If possible, I would wish upon a star that all my friends can be happy and healthy.

Some people say that it is almost impossible for you to find a true friend when you are not a student any more and become a person in the realistic society. I hope it is not the case so that I would not be disappointed when I am facing one who, I think and I believe, can be my intimate friend.

I wish upon a star that friends are forever loyal and faithful to each other.

Freedom in my Dream

As the whole world has its boundaries, limits and freedom coexist in our life. I don’t expect complete freedom which is impossible. I simply have a dream that supports my life.I dream that one day, I could escape from the deep sea of thick school books and lead my own life. With my favorite fictions, I lie freely on the green grass, smelling the spring, listening to the wind singing, breathing the fresh and cool air and dissolve my soul in nature at last. Simple and short enjoyment can bring me great satisfaction.
I dream that one day the adults could throw their prejudice of comic and cartoon away. They could keep a lovely heart which can share sorrow and happiness with us while watching cartoon or doing personal things. That’s the real communication of heart to heart.
I have the belief that my dreams should come true. I am looking forward to some day coming when I am like a proud eagle which flies to the blue and vast sky.
